Dyslexia Intervention

As a Certified Dyslexia Interventionist, our dyslexia intervention includes personalized, evidence-based reading intervention that is designed to specifically help students with

dyslexia strengthen their reading, writing, and spelling skills.

Aligned with practices supported by the science of reading (click here to learn more about the science of reading) and Structured Literacy principles, here at NLC, dyslexia intervention is

systematic, explicit, comprehensive, prescriptive, and evidence-based

Our dyslexia intervention is grounded in decades of reading research proven effective

for students with dyslexia. Here at NLC, we also believe great literacy

instruction is both a science and an art.

It is shaped not only by what we teach, but by how we teach. This happens through meaningful relationships, thoughtful observation, and intentional responsiveness to each student we serve.

Through such instruction, we strive to support student's in feeling confident in themselves and conquer dyslexia! To learn more about dyslexia intervention principles, check out the book listed below.

Systematic & Explicit

Evidence-Based

Prescriptive

Dyslexia intervention is systematic, explicit, and comprehensive, meaning instruction is taught in a clear, intentional, step-by-step way that addresses all essential areas of literacy.

Skills are carefully sequenced so each lesson builds on what your child has already learned, while gradually introducing more challenging concepts. This approach supports a gradual release of responsibility, helping students grow in confidence and independence over time.

At the same time, instruction is direct & interactive. We explicitly teach each skill and work closely with your child as they practice, providing consistent guidance, feedback, and support throughout the learning process.

Rather than expecting students to figure things out on their own, we ensure every concept is clearly modeled and reinforced continuously so they feel secure and successful as they learn.

Dyslexia intervention at NLC is grounded in evidence-based instruction, meaning every strategy we use is intentional, purposeful, and supported by research.

Our approach is guided by the science of reading, a large, trusted body of research showing how the brain learns to read and which methods are most effective.

This research emphasizes the importance of explicitly and systematically teaching skills like phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension.

Because we believe in the science of reading, we carefully choose practices that are proven to work, ensuring that every minute of instruction is meaningful and impactful, creating the most effective intervention for our students.

Dyslexia & Reading.

Dyslexia intervention is also highly prescriptive, meaning instruction is carefully tailored to each individual student. We use valid, ongoing assessments to identify specific areas of strength and need, and we design instruction directly from that data.

Our approach is both

evidence-based & responsive.

While we rely on research-backed practices, we also thoughtfully adapt to our students and personalize lessons so students are engaged, motivated, and excited to learn.

Instruction is not one-size-fits-all, but shaped by clinical data, progress monitoring, and daily observations to ensure it meets each student exactly where they are.

Just as importantly, we prioritize building strong, trusting relationships with our students.

We believe that knowing each learner well and creating a safe, supportive environment is essential for meaningful progress and lasting growth.
